Aruba Amateur Weightlifting Association

Established in1952 under the name of Aruba Amateur Weightlifting Association as non-profit organisation with the sole purpose to elevate the sport of Olympic Weightlifting in Aruba

Weightlifting Gym:

There are two Weightlifting Gyms located in two different districts of Aruba, One in Noord at the Sport Complex Frans Figaroa 10 minutes away from the High rise area. We have another location in San Nicolas at the Sport Centrum.

Competitions:

Every year AAWA organizes a calendar of events which includes both national competitions and international games. National competitions are scheduled 5 times during the course of the year in the following categories; Junior, Senior, Women, and Masters. Every year the national selection team participates to international competitions as well as the Olympic cycle games such as ODESUR, CAC, PAN-American Games and the Olympic Games.

Olympic Games

Aruba participated in two Olympic Games. In 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games and 2004 Athens Olympic Games. The Athlete Isnardo (Junior) Faro was the lifter representing Aruba in both of these Games.

Monday through Friday (Special days can be arranged upon request)

5:00 pm till 7:00 pm 

San Nicalos Sport Centrum

Tuesdays and Thursdays

6:00 pm till 8:00 pm

Coaches:

Currently Active Coaches are;  Sr. Hugo Themen Head Coach, Sr. Emiterio Bareno as assistant coach and Sr, Patrick C Vrolijk as assistant Coach. 

Donations:

All donations are extremely appreciated and all funds are 100% invested in the Sport of Weightlifting in Aruba.
